Manual Handling has traditionally been an add-on for trainers and managers alike but our approach is to give this costly issue some clear and concise instruction and support so that it can be effectively managed.

We have used our vast experience in the field of ergonomics to create an understandable and highly effective step-by-step approach to lifting correctly.  Whether at home or at work, our 4Safe™ steps methodology to lifting has not only been designed for ease of delivery but more importantly, to make a significant difference in reducing one of the biggest causes of injury.

Each of our manual handling courses is bespoke and unique.  By initially assessing the level and causation of risk in each task performed, we are able to provide tailored solutions that work for the individual and their business.  Our support materials are created using (and make reference to throughout) the risk assessment data – it is important to us that we ensure that the right level of guidance is offered throughout our programme and beyond.

A dedicated support team are on hand to maintain the relevance of the programme to meet the ever changing needs of your business and your people.

Should the worst happen, we can also assist in investigating any manual handling related accidents. Our aim with these is to identify causes and behaviours, and offer solutions on how to avoid a reoccurrence.

Our goal is to develop competent people who are able to give the correct level of skill to react calmly and proficiently in an emergency first aid situation.

This is not your normal textbook style first aid course – like our manual handling courses, it is instead, a fully tailored and bespoke solution which includes realistic and relevant workplace scenarios that have been identified through our risk assessment process.

A one day course, delivered at your location by our St. John’s Ambulance accredited trainer, to minimise both cost and disruption to your business.  It includes emergency life support training and a number of basic first aid methods and techniques as directed by St. John’s Ambulance and The Red Cross.

Our training represents realistic scenarios that you and your people may possibly experience within your business as well as again linking back to home-life situations.

This is certainly more than a tick in the compliance box!

Without judgement, we have been able to offer advice and support to hundreds of individuals, many of whom had until then, been totally unaware of the true effects that their day to day lives were having on their own bodies.

Our equipment allows us to take key body composition measurements (such as percentage of body water, blood pressure, lung capacity and body mass index etc.) which are translated by our trained technicians into pointers to improve lifestyle choices.

With each appointment taking just 10 minutes (each with instant results), it is certainly a very proactive and popular wellbeing event that can positively impact on a company’s absenteeism.

Video Production

Handling Change is able to offer you an exciting opportunity to extend the life and value of our training programmes by capturing your people performing a series of tasks and skills specific to your business, on video.

For our Manual Handling programmes, we typically produce a 10-15 minute production depending on the scale and requirements of your organisation.  This can then also be cut down into a more compact ‘refresher’ video for regular six monthly or yearly viewing.

Our unique, discreet and unobtrusive approach to filming means that your business can continue as usual on filming days and we are able to add multi-lingual voice overs or subtitles to support the needs of your staff.

Trainer Packs

Each pack contains detailed course information and hints/tips for delivery to ensure a consistently high standard of competency from both trainers and delegates alike.

Bespoke Posters

We like to demonstrate the strong link between ‘work-home-life balance’ in all our support materials and our posters are each designed to illustrate the impact between the unique tasks performed within your business and the activities that people do at home.

Safe Systems of Work

These flexible documents (especially useful for reaching out to the ‘harder to reach’ areas of your business) are put together using stills from video footage, photographs taken during the risk assessment visit(s) or created with bespoke anatomical artwork. Each image is then supported with a step-by-step written guide…creating a big visual impact, right where it’s needed!
